As Frank Tobe writes on The Robot Report, 2016 has been the best year ever for funding robotics startup companies. According to his research, 128 robotics-related startups received a funding of nearly 2 billion US-$ in 2016, an increase of 50% compared to 2015, which has already been a very good year with a total funding of around 1.3 billion US-$.
25 unmanned aerial systems companies got the biggest number of fundings followed by 15 agricultural robotics startups, service robotics for businesses, service robots for personal use, vision systems providers, self-driving systems and mobile robotics and autonomous ground vehicle (AGV) companies.
Certainly, the time to go with a robotics-related product from the lab to the market has never been better than now. We are convinced that in the future we will see several companies in this list, whose ideas have been supported by ECHORD++ before.
