What is a RIF?

RIFs are open to the public labs which provide state-of-the-art robotic hardware and software, as well as scientific and technical support. Anticipating market trends, the RIFs cover a wide range of application areas.

Who can apply?

Every company, institution and research organisation is eligible for a RIF engagement. Users can come from all areas, regardless of if they already have robotics experience or not.

The Bristol RIF

Bristol Robotics Laboratory is a collaborative partnership between the University of the West of England (UWE, Bristol) and the University of Bristol, and is the largest academic centre for multi-disciplinary robotics research in the UK.

Frequently asked questions about the RIFs

What is the purpose of using a RIF?

The RIFs offer their users the possibility to improve processes, to investigate new products and services and to improve personal skills. RIF users can try out new technology ideas and explore new, smart solutions.

Do I have to join the ECHORD++ consortium if I want to use a RIF?

No, the application process to use a RIF are simple and non-bureaucratic and handled directly by the ECHORD++ team.

Who can apply for a RIF engagement?

Every company, institution and research organisation is eligible for a RIF engagement. Users can come from all areas, whether they have already had experience with robotics or not.

How long can I stay at a RIF?

With one application max. six weeks.

Do I get any payment during my stay at a RIF?

No. The use of the infrastructure and the services are free, but there are no payments to users – only in exceptional cases, very limited travel support can be granted.
