With the world population ever increasing and the area of arable land limited, it is of paramount importance for the survival of mankind to improve farming efficiency and food security – from “farm to fork”.
Obviously, from the recent success of milking robots, agricultural robotics is not restricted to farming – robotics can change the entire homestead or agricultural facility, thanks to the automation of the entire process from the raw product to the finished one (e.g. from grain to flour to pasta; from fruit to beverage) and the development of agricultural robots for precision farming (e.g. automatized cleaning of barns, harvesting, grooming, etc.).
